LOWER DIVISION – 1st and 2nd Grade Boys & Girls

How much does the program cost?
We are a not-for-profit organization, so all the funds collected go back into the program.  The lower division cost is $80 for the season.   All registrations must be completed on our website.

How old do you have to be?
The lower division is for 1st and 2nd grade boys and girls.  Each team is made up of 1st and 2nd graders and teams are co-ed. 

When does the soccer season begin?
Our Fall season starts in September and runs through the middle of November.  The Spring season begins in early April and continue through the middle of June.  

What equipment do I need?
For lower division a uniform is required to be purchased from Upper90.  Uniforms may be ordered online at www.u90soccer.com.  You may also contact Upper90 directly at 646-416-9823.  Uniforms consist of a reversible white/red shirt, red shorts and red socks.  Shin guards and cleats are also required.  Each player will need a size 3 soccer ball for team practice and for practice at home.

What days and time do the kids practice / play soccer?
Lower division games are all held on Saturday between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.  The game times will change each week.  Practice days and times are determined by the coach and may occasionally change from week to week.  

Where do you play?
All lower division games are played at Birchwood Intermediate School on Wolf Hill Road.  Practices are normally at Birchwood but may be at other schools within our district.

When will I find out what team I am on and what time to meet?
Teams will be announced about one week prior to the start of the season.

PEE WEE’s & MICRO’s

How much does the program cost?
We are a not-for-profit organization, so all the funds collected go back into the program.  The Pee Wee's & Micro's cost is $70 for the season.   All registrations must be completed on our website.

How old do you have to be?
The Pee Wee program is for Pre-school age children that will be 4 years old prior to the season starting. The Micro’s Program is for kindergarten age children.

When does the soccer season begin?
Our Fall season starts in September and runs through the middle of November.  The Spring season begins in early April and continue through the middle of June.  

What equipment do I need?
For Pee Wee’s  and Micros, no uniform is required . Each child will be given a South Huntington Soccer Club t-shirt within the first few weeks of soccer. Shin guards are required and cleats are optional (about half the kids this age will usually have them). Each kid will need a size 3 soccer ball for practice and for home practice.

What days and time do the kids practice / play soccer?
Pee Wee’s and Micros play soccer on Saturday morning at 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, or 11:00 AM. Each child is assigned a time and will play at the same time each week. Duration is 1 hour. There are no practices during the week. There are no formal games.

What is a typical practice like?
The goal of the sessions is to be instructional sessions teaching the children the fundamentals of soccer and to have a lot of fun. Typically, for first 30 -45 minutes, the kids are playing games with a soccer ball (i.e. red light/green light, freeze tag, kick the coach, etc.) The second 15 – 30 minutes will be a scrimmage within the team.

All Pee Wee’s and Micros play at Birchwood Intermediate School on Wolf Hill Road.

MOMMY/DADDY & ME

The Mommy/Daddy & Me program is held Saturday mornings at Birchwood Intermediate School, usually at 10AM.  This is the very elementary prohram that teaches very basic soccer fundamentals (dribbling, kicking, etc.) and stresses fun.  

Parents particiapte in some drills (running and kicking) and are there mostly for support.  It is a one-hour program.

What equipment do I need?
No uniform is required . Each child will be given a South Huntington Soccer Club t-shirt within the first few weeks of soccer. Shin guards are required and cleats are optional. Each player will need a size 3 soccer ball for practice.
