Who are the U16 Wolves who started their travel season about 7 weeks into everyone else's season and played in the "Late Fall League"? Well, simply put they are one of the most tenured teams in the club and their roots go way back.
Only about five players remain from the Wolves’ original crew, but their bond continues to be the heartbeat of this team. Formed years ago from a mix of athletes in the South Huntington intramural program, the Wolves have proudly carried their name since 3rd grade.
Over the years, the roster has evolved, welcoming players from Huntington, Dix Hills, Northport, Syosset, Kings Park, and a handful of other towns depending on the season. Yet no matter who joins, the spirit of the team has always remained the same — resilient, committed, and united.
The Late Fall season is a brief but meaningful stretch, kicking off shortly after the high school campaign wraps up and lasting just six weeks. This year, the Wolves played up at U16 to align with everyone’s schedules, taking on the challenge with the same grit that has defined them for nearly a decade.
And these girls don’t just play soccer. Many are multi-sport athletes balancing practices, games, schoolwork, and other commitments. But when Late Fall arrived, they come together — not just for the competition, but for the community. The friendships and bonds built through South Huntington SC have kept them connected year after year, and continuing to represent the Wolves is something they take great pride in.
A team built on loyalty, longevity, and love for the game — that is the Wolves, one of the longest tenured teams with our club.
