ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY

South Huntington SC
CODE OF CONDUCT

PLAYERS:
Treat teammates, opponents, coaches, and referees with kindness, dignity, and respect.

Always play by the rules and show good sportsmanship, win or lose.  Be a good sport and play fair.

Give your best effort by hustling and playing hard; coaches absolutely love players who try a little harder to become a better player and teammate.

Show up to all practices, training sessions, and games on time and ready to play.  Families must notify coaches and/or managers ahead of time when players cannot attend a planned session.

Be coachable and listen to your coaches and be open to learning and improving.  Your job is to listen attentively to what your coach is saying. Coaches volunteer their own time to work with your team – don’t waste that time.

Stay positive with no negative comments or gestures toward others or yourself.  Be patient with your teammates as every player on your team has certain strengths and weaknesses. Be patient with your teammates as they improve their games – just as they will be patient with you improving your game. Soccer is a team sport. Success can only come when the entire team works and plays well together.

Players who violate any of the above codes may see their playing time reduced at the discretion of the coaches and the club.

PARENTS/SPECTATORS:
You are expected to set a good example for the children by being positive, calm and respectful towards all players, opponents, as well as officials and coaches at all training sessions and games.

It is expected that you will leave the coaching of the team to the coaches.  It is expected that you will not engage in ANY coaching from the sidelines, berate or call instructions to players during contests or practices.

You are to refrain from addressing referees and their assistants, before, during or after games.  This includes no disputing calls or criticizing calls that are made.  For travel teams, any penalty fine received due to your harmful actions will be reimbursed by you, and your player will not be allowed to participate until the fine is paid.

It is expected to refrain from bothering the coaches during or after games. That includes questions about playing time, positions and any other coaching or club decisions. Any parent wishing to speak to the coach/trainer should contact the coach/trainer no sooner than 24 hours AFTER a game/session, and NOT at the conclusion of a match to set a specific time to discuss any concerns.

It is expected to get your players to training and games on time, and to promptly notify when your player is unable to make it. Repeated tardiness and absences WILL result in reduced playing time!!

COACHES:
Be a role model by demonstrating respect, integrity, and leadership at all times.

Create a positive environment to encourage, support, and motivate players to grow in skill and character.

Promote fair play to teach players to compete fairly and with respect for all involved.

Put players first and focus on development, safety, and enjoyment—not just winning.

Communicate clearly and respectfully by keeping open and respectful communication with players, parents, and referees.

VIOLATIONS:
Any behavior that violates this Code of Conduct may result in warnings, suspensions, or removal from club activities at the discretion of the club’s leadership.
